In a move that is bound to lift spirits of women tipplers in Madhya Pradesh, the state government will set up dedicate liquor shops for women that will facilitate safe and hassle-free buying of the tipsy drink. These outlets would dispense high-end foreign liquor. To start with, Kamal Nath government has decided to set up two exclusive shops each in Bhopal and Indore, and one each in Jabalpur and Gwalior. And these outlets would stock wine and whiskey brands that are popular among women.
These exclusive shops would be on the lines of those in New Delhi, Mumbai or any other metropolitan city. More so, to ensure quality, government would allow sale of only foreign liquor, known as bottled in origin, through these shops. It means even the liquor brands not registered in state would be available for sale at these shops. no additional duty would be levied on these foreign liquor brands, as it is brought to the country after paying duty. These exclusive shops would open market for sale of liquor in the state.These liquors shops would be opened in malls or upmarket places where women can comfortably buy liquor.In a bid to generate revenue and make local brands popular, government will hold wine festivals in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur to market state-made wines.
